(preface) Let's go to Sicily🍋
I have always wanted to visit Sicily.
The more I looked into it, the more I realised there is so much to see and do.
There are so many places I want to go!
With a friend I met while studying in Malta, we were talking about 'Let's go to the World Heritage Site, Mount Etna!' We were talking about it.

Sicily is so close to Malta!
We wanted to go on a nice day, so we postponed it a few times, and our graduation day was getting closer.
In the meantime, our school teacher told us, "I think Mount Etna is dangerous now. You should go to another part of Sicily for your trip."
She advised us to go to another place in Sicily.
Mount Etna is the largest active volcano in Europe. There was just news of an eruption.
We still had a strong desire to go there, but this time we decided to change direction.
Initially we were thinking of flying, but LCC prices can vary greatly depending on the timing of your booking.
The day we were planning to go, the plane prices were very high, so we went by ferry this time.

Still before dawn. We leave early in the morning.
Thanks to this, we were able to see a nice sunrise from the ferry.

RAGUSA
Ragusa is a city and a basic municipality (comune) in southern Sicily, Italy, with a population of about 73,000, including the surrounding area. It is the capital of the province of Ragusa.
Ragusa Ibla, the old town, has many late Baroque buildings. Together with the surrounding towns, it is inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List as “Late Baroque Towns of Val di Noto”.

MODICA
Modica chocolate is a famous souvenir from Sicily!
The chocolatier demonstrated in front of us how to make traditional chocolate, which is simple: cocoa powder with granulated sugar is melted at 35-40°C and flavoured with cinnamon and vanilla.
Modica's chocolate is not very watery, naturally sweet and zesty.

We had a tasting and it was very difficult to decide which to buy because they were all so delicious. Looking back, I wish I had bought more... I want to eat them again! (^^)!

SCICLI
This is also a World Heritage Site, along with Ragusa and Modica, which we visited earlier (eight towns are registered together).

What a quaint cinema!
It reminded me of the 1989 Italian-French co-production New Cinema Paradise.
New Cinema Paradise is a timeless classic set in the Sicilian countryside about the friendship between a boy who loves cinema and an old man who is a projectionist. The film depicts the boy Toto's development as a film director and the warm interaction between the people around the cinema “Paradise Theatre”. The last scene in particular is known as a famous and moving scene that has captured the hearts of many film fans.

It was a very enjoyable trip to Sicily.
These are some of the flowers I photographed then ⤵.

In late February, it was spring in Malta, but Sicily also had the scent of early spring. Both are my favourite places because the sea and sky are bright blue and the air is clean.
But still, Sicily is quite big (especially when compared to Malta).
I definitely want to visit the places I couldn't go to this time, someday.
(Afterword) Memories of a friend who went to Sicily with me

As I write this article, I miss her more and more.
I wish her happiness from afar.
I would definitely like to meet her again somewhere in the world☆.
I am sincerely looking forward to that day.

The photo shows the delicious coffee she bought me on the last day of class.
I used to go to the café with her during breaks, but on the last day of school I couldn't go because I had something to do.
When I returned to my seat, I found the coffee she had bought for me (cappuccino☕ which I always order).
With a nice note (^^).
I was so happy I almost cried. Even now, when I think about this, it warms my heart and I miss her.
I will never forget my precious memories.
Thank you so much ❤.
